Bejan, Adrian. (2011, June.). Animals spinning their wheels. Mechanical Engineering 133, 2. Retrieved June 22, 2011, from Academic Search Premier.
Summary:
This article shows that the emergence of body organs is predictable as a part of the design for moving animal mass more easily on Earth, in accord with the constructal law of design in nature. For a finite-size open system to persist in time (to live), it must evolve such that it provides easier access to the imposed (global) currents that flow through it. Does the constructal theory then state that for a design (an animal, a river basin) to persist in time, it must evolve to move more freely through its environment? Yes. “The theory goes on to show us that forward-falling movement is dictated by the natural wheel phenomenon, which is required for the minimal amount of effort expended for a certain distance traveled,” Bejan said. The constructal law also accounts for animal design features for changing speeds. Skeletons (bones and legs) are solid organs that emerge in accordance with the constructal-law design of moving animal mass: More and stronger material emerges along the lines of highest stresses. What do I think? Well, I believe that flows evolve to reduce friction or other forms of resistance, so that they flow more easily with time. It is no surprise that animals and humans alike, must evolve to meet the growing and faster speeds of the world we live in. The main principle of the constructal theory is that every system is destined to remain imperfect. As a consequence, a perfect form is the least imperfect form possible and constitutes the best outcome available. Adrian Bejan believed that more and stronger material emerges along the lines of highest stresses. A connection, thus, between animal wheel movement and swimming, water waves, and tsunamis has been made. What’s next? Only time will tell.

I would like to compare this article with a piece of chocolate that has a good shape because this article makes me eager to read it all. In fact, this article gives me much information, which I hadn’t known about before. For example, it has a brief reminder of why the wheel was such a dramatic change in how human move which makes me understand it all. In addition, as I am planning to study mechanical engineering, I must know what the most important and the fundamental things to notice everything happens around me, such as A, Bejan, who has been researching for a long time. We can realize what he is studying for fast. In the world, many companies require the ambitious man who works not only for himself, but also for the word. For this reason, I would study hard, and work hard to be famous and well known in this world. In short, I am studying mechanical engineering because I like challenging, and complicated search like what A, Bejan has been doing.

2. Summary:
This article mentions that the majority of today’s mechanical engineering positions fall into three main categories. The first main category is Energy engineers. Energy engineering is looking to devise methods of powering the human world. They are concerned with the amount of energy that is available to them in all levels. They work to provide the energy that holds this mechanical marvel, the human made world, together. Engineers look in three places that are studied by three types of mechanical engineers, in order to generate the energy we use. These three types are nuclear power engineers, petroleum engineers, and renewable energy engineers. In nuclear energy, mechanical engineers design and dimension the system that contains uranium and plutonium. They design many methods of passing, receiving, storing, and using to make electricity. They get in the nuclear between $50,000 to $60,000 annually. In petroleum power, petroleum engineers design methods of extracting the crude oil and natural gas. They design some ways to get oil in a place where it can be touched. In renewable power, the engineers try to harness enough of nature’s limitless energy to provide power for us to consume. They start getting salaries between $45,000 and $60,000 for graduates of a 4 year-program. The second main category is manufacturing engineers. Manufacturing engineers design factories and their operation. They invent the materials that are selected to create products, using problem solving, critical thinking, innovation and teamwork. Manufacturing engineers can make $45,000 to $50,000 annually. The third category is design engineers. Design engineers are responsible for inventing new things that consumers demand. They concentrate on the design of engineering rather than the production of actual product. They can make $60,000 annually.

I would like to compare this article with a plate that has many kinds of fruit. Each kind has different taste that makes everyone sees it eager to taste it. When I read this article in the beginning, I got enthusiastic to read it all. It has much information that I hadn’t before. I am sure that what I have read is a little in mechanical engineering because it has a wide range, and it relates to many majors like what I read in this article. Also, I am sure that not everyone who graduates knows everything. Everyone has to read a lot to improve his skills in any major. I am planning to read an article everyday in order to know the fundamentals of mechanical engineering. After reading this article, I want to study mechanical engineering in two types of places. The purpose of learning this is to make sure that I study most of mechanical engineering. In the future, when I work in huge company, I am planning to manage this company. There is no way to manage the company I f I don’t know most of mechanical engineering. I understand that I will never achieve my goal in mechanical engineering if I don’t study all of it and pay more attention it.

2. Summary:
This is article is about a gift for engineering which was made by John A. Swanson.  This man was eager to create the simulation software code known as ANYSY. He has made a major contribution of a program to help policy makers in the U.S, and he has donated $ 1 million to the ASME foundation to encourage the federal fellows. The federal fellows bring their experience from energy, and nanotechnology. The article mentions the software-based methodology to combine stress analyses and the other structural tools into a package that facilitates computer simulations. It mention that Swanson was interested in directing money that is committed to training future of scientists, and engineers to innovate in such fields as energy, biotechnology and nanotechnology.
 3. Reaction:
I am planning to study mechanical engineering, so I was interested in reading this article. I have three reasons. First, this article makes feel me ambitious about the future. In fact, it gives me some new information that will help me get a bachelor’s degree. Before I read this article, I thought that people study to earn some money, but that is not correct. I realize now that people learn to improve and benefit themselves and the society like Swanson, who made a gift for people to be eager to study and learn with challenge. I would be happy when I study Mechanical Engineering, and work in a huge company in this world. Also, my major depends on thinking and creating, so I am thinking right now to invent and create something new to make myself famous and well-known in the future. My dream is how to make myself successful in anything I am interested in. For this dream, I will study and create many things as much as I can. And I will encourage the people who I know to learn to improve themselves.
